Terms of Service
Effective date: 24 August 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the StudySafeLink mobile application ("留学平安通", "the App") and the website studysafelink.top, provided by the operator of StudySafeLink ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the App you agree to these Terms.
1. The service
StudySafeLink provides: (a) display and analysis of officially published public crime data; (b) check-in notifications between a student and a bound parent; (c) opt-in Trip Guardian location sharing; (d) anti-scam verification reminders; (e) AI-generated safety information; and (f) related family-reassurance features. Features may evolve over time.
2. Accounts
- You must provide accurate registration information and keep credentials confidential. You are responsible for activity under your account.
- You must be at least the minimum age required by your local law to form a binding contract (and in any event no younger than the App Store age rating). Accounts for minors must be supervised by their parent/legal guardian; the parent binding feature exists for this purpose.
- You may delete your account at any time in the App. Deletion takes effect after a 30-day grace period during which you can cancel it.
3. Subscriptions and purchases
- Guardian Mode subscription: US$4.99 per month or US$49.99 per year. One subscription unlocks Guardian features for both members of a bound student–parent pair.
- Consumable credits: packs of AI Q&A uses, Trip Guardian trips and deep region reports are one-time purchases that do not expire while your account is active.
- All purchases are billed by Apple through your App Store account. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel anytime in your iPhone Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions. Prices may change with prior notice; applicable taxes are included where required.
- Consumed credits and elapsed subscription periods are non-refundable except where required by law or as determined by Apple's refund process.
- New users receive a free trial of Guardian Mode where offered; if you subscribe before the trial ends, any unused trial period is forfeited.
4. Acceptable use
- Do not misuse the App: no scraping beyond public pages, no automated bulk requests, no reverse engineering, no attempts to gain unauthorised access to our servers.
- Community markers/reports must be truthful and lawful. We may remove content and suspend accounts that post false, harassing or illegal material, or that abuse referral rewards through fake or duplicate accounts.
- Trip Guardian is designed for consensual family use. You may only share another person's location through the App if they have enabled it themselves on their own device.
5. Safety data disclaimer
Crime data and news briefs shown in the App and on this website come from third-party official sources (e.g. data.police.uk, US/Canadian/Australian police open data, FBI UCR, Statistics Canada). Such data reflects recorded incidents only, may be incomplete, delayed or revised, varies in coverage between countries and cities, and can never describe present risk at a specific moment. Scores and grades are relative statistical indicators, not measures of absolute safety. We expressly do not guarantee personal safety anywhere, and nothing in the App constitutes safety, legal or insurance advice.
6. AI-generated content
Safety answers, summaries and reports generated with AI assistance may contain errors or omissions despite our safeguards. Treat them as general orientation, verify important facts against official sources, and never delay seeking emergency help because of app content.
7. Intellectual property
The App's design, code and original content are owned by us or our licensors. Third-party crime data remains subject to the licences of its publishers (e.g. data.police.uk usage terms). You may not copy or redistribute substantial parts of the App or database without written permission.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, and our aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the App is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) US$50. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law (including for death or personal injury caused by negligence or fraud).
9. Termination and changes
We may suspend or terminate access for violation of these Terms, and may modify or discontinue non-core features. Material changes to these Terms will be notified in the App; continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
10. Apple-specific terms
You acknowledge that these Terms are between you and us only, and not with Apple. Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms and, upon your acceptance, has the right to enforce them against you. Our App is licensed, not sold, to you under the Usage Rules of the App Store. We are solely responsible for the App, its content, maintenance and warranties to the extent set out herein, and for addressing any claims relating to the App (including product liability, legal/regulatory compliance and consumer-protection claims).
11. Governing law and contact
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable at the operator's principal place of business, without prejudice to mandatory consumer-protection rights in your country of residence; disputes fall to the competent courts there. Questions about these Terms: studysafelink@yeah.net.
